Background
After decades of hunting monsters across the Continent, The Watcher found himself facing an uncomfortable truth: his knees hurt, silver sword maintenance was getting expensive, and frankly, the last striga he'd killed had given him heartburn for a week.
"Hmm," he grunted one morning, staring at a notice board. "Another drowner contract. Twelve crowns. I used to get fifty." The market for monster hunting had become, as they say, oversaturated with fresh-faced witchers who'd work for exposure and a warm meal.
It was Yennefer who suggested trading. "You already stare at patterns all day," she said, "and you're paranoid enough to assume everything is trying to kill you. That's basically technical analysis." She wasn't wrong.
Now he hunts gaps instead of griffins. His medallion still hums at danger - usually when retail traders pile into an obvious trap. He still takes the occasional monster contract, but only for "cardio," as he calls it. The bestiary has been replaced by a Bloomberg terminal, though he still insists on calling unjustified gaps "Foglets" and stop-losses "Quen shields."
The mutations, it turns out, are excellent for staring at charts for sixteen hours straight without blinking.
"Hmm. Medallion's quiet. No news. This gap is just fog and retail FOMO."
